FAD-MISSONI
This is the Missoni A/W 2017 Collection. I have chosen to research the Constructivism
movement with particular focus on the work of Karl Waldmann. His work has only
recently been discovered and dates between 1930 to 1958. After the fall of the Berlin
wall Waldmann's archive of over 1,200 pieces were discovered. Waldmann's work mostly
consists of collages and photomontagesthat take reference from his political views during
the years of Nazi rule and Stalinist censorship. The way he manipulates imagery will inform
my pattern cutting, silhouette and fabric manipulations. His political agenda formed the basis
of my design methodology. This then developed further into forming my main concept of
protection. From men and women protecting their county, political rights and basic human
rights to the biological protection of woman and child.
